The Nine Year Journey

When my wife and I made our vows on the June 23rd, 2007, we couldn't  imagine all the trials we would endure. The journey through nine years has been filled with numerous battles and losses but through the power of prayer we prevailed.

Hailing from a Nigerian background, Ronke and I began to hear the request for a grand-child from our parents and extended the by end of our first year of marriage. As the year went on, many in our family and community thought that we couldn't have children. Many started to avoid us like the plague but we were assured that at the right time that God will bless us with a child.

Truth be told, Ronke and I didn't have problem conceiving we just never tried because the Lord had not yet released us to be parents. It was an issue of timing not capability.  As time went on the Lord filled our lives with great spirit children but around 2013 the Lord spoke that we were about to enter into a season where we will become biological parents.

This is where it got  interesting; after 2013 we tried having kids but suffered 2 miscarriages in 2014. This heartbreaking losses really impacted us.  After nine years of marriage, my wife and I were blessed with a beautiful baby boy - Daniel Olagunju. I have had the opportunity to be a spiritual father to many but it's truly a blessing and an honor to be a biological father for the first time. Fatherhood is such a transformative experience that will last me a life-time without exhausting it's possibilities. Simply put I am just thankful for this season and my son.
